My Three Favourite Restaurants in Croatia
For me, these might not just be the best restaurants in Croatia — they could be among the best I’ve ever visited anywhere in the world. They’re so exceptional, I even tipped off Michelin to take a look.
Restaurant 2Ribara – Zadar
With a tradition spanning 50 years, 2Ribara is one of the best adorned by Zadar locals and tourists willing to explore Zadar’s alleyways.
In early 2022, I went probably 12 times in total over a 3 week period – and when a restaurant is that good consistently you know it’s something special.
The menu is Adriatic-Croatian & Italian fusion

Restaurant Adriatic/Grašo – Split
Perched on the cliffs of Sustipan with a killer view of the Adriatic Sea, Adriatic Grašo is a long-established fine dining gem in Split. Known for its upscale Dalmatian cuisine—think fresh seafood, prime cuts, and a serious wine list—it’s been winning awards since the '90s. The elegant setting, sunset views, and exceptional service make it a go-to spot for special occasions and celebrity sightings.
Likewise with 2Ribara, I’ve been here a ridiculous number of times and again the consistency in quality and service is amazing.

Cyrano Grill – Zagreb
The home of Ćevapi—my ultimate desert-island food. Cyrano Grill in Zagreb is a true master of barbecue, serving up smoky, fire-grilled perfection. While it’s a step away from the finer dining vibes of the previous two spots, this place taps into something just as special. Ćevapi and grilled meats aren’t just staples of Croatian cuisine—they’re a core part of what I love about food.
Magazinska Klet – By Cyrano is a rustic à la carte restaurant located in Zagreb, Croatia, specializing in traditional charcoal-grilled dishes. The establishment offers a variety of grilled meats, including beef, pork, and chicken, as well as daily specials. The menu features items such as pljeskavica (a Balkan-style grilled patty), gourmet skewers, and stuffed pork loin. Additionally, the restaurant provides a selection of sides and sauces to complement the main dishes.
What is Ćevapi?
Ćevapi (pronounced "che-VAP-ee") are a Balkan-style grilled dish of minced meat, often served with flatbread, onions, and ajvar (a red pepper spread). They are considered a national dish in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, and are popular throughout the Balkans.
