Five Fantastic Hostels in Spain
These are my five favourite hostels in Spain which I rate for their beauty, value, backpacker vibe, individuality, and location!
To date, Spain has been my favourite country to travel to, mainly due to its incredible weather, muy chicas bonitas, exceptional food and beer, cultural variety, beaches, mountains, deserts, and value for money!
Here are my 5 favourite hostels in Spain from my travels!

Los Amigos Hostel, Tenerife
I originally booked this hostel for 5 days in late November 2022 but ended up staying for over 1 month. Why? The weather is fantastic, and everybody is a cool and chill type! Around the hostel, you can find cliff jumping in Los Abrigos, a volcanic saltwater pool at Piscinas Naturales Los Abrigos, and the absolute best Arepas in Spain (IMO) at Arepera Gocharepa Los Abrigos! There’s also loads of trail running, mountain biking, sightseeing, beaches, surfing, and rock jumping!
I’d recommend hiring a car to check out the North part of the island as Tenerife’s geography differs immensely between north and south.
Every afternoon the hostel goes down to the beach to play volleyball and have a BBQ. As Tenerife is close to the Equator, the weather in December is mostly 30ºC! Thus the perfect place to go to escape bad weather in Europe.
Bonus: There’s a storm tunnel that comes out by the hostel that if you follow this straight (in the dark) will lead under the airport’s runway and to the entrance of the airport. How cool is that?!
The rooftop pool at BOC City Hostel, Palma, Spain BOC City Palma: Palma, Mallorca
There is another BOC Hostel nearby by the same name which I rate highly, called BOC Palma Hostel (Hostel Fleming) – but they really need to make the names less confusing.
The rooftop pool, games room, and large open social spaces make this hostel a very social place to be and its variety attracts many different types of backpacker!
Latroupe La Granja: Bilbao, Basque Country
Moving to The Basque Country, this hostel is the best in the city. Latroupe has super nice and clean rooms with a healthy social life and nightly events including pub crawls, and games’ nights.
Oasis Backpackers: Seville
With a rooftop pool, bar, Tinto de Verano on tap, gorgeous weather, pub crawls, and parties make this hostel a real international backpacker’s dream.
This was a really cool hostel for its ease of socialising, and given which is open 24/7, and bars all around and street-level, it makes it the perfect hostel and place to be when Seville is 45ºC in summer months.
Purple Nest: Valencia
I’ve stayed at Purple Nest 3 of the 4 times I’ve been to Valencia. It’s in a nice part of town, not far from the main tourist attractions, and has a large social hall and kitchen on the ground floor which makes it easy to meet and talk to people.
Other notable mentions:
The Lights Hostel in Malaga
Koba Hostel in San Sebastian
A Room with a View in San Sebastian
